- The various components of the building envelope are exposed to the extreme weather elements experienced during summer and winter
- All components are effected, deteriorate and age at different rates
- Roof assemblies should be inspected and maintained on an annual basis to ensure that they meet or exceed their anticipated lifespan
- Masonry, stucco, siding and other exterior finishes will visually reveal their condition. Further investigation will be required to establish the underlying cause and the development of procedures to rectify the issue
- Windows and doors create breaks in the air/vapour barrier of the building. Deteriorated caulking and/or sealant may cause air leakage. Investigation should be conducted on the condition of the windows and doors and respective sealing systems to ensure their efficient operation
- Infrared Thermography can be utilized as a non-destructive method of identifying existing and/or potential problems with roofing, building envelope and electrical panels
- Project management and /or contract administration is required to ensure that both new and retrofit construction projects are completed in compliance with specifications/drawings and within budget
